３年ぶりに、オリッサでディーワーリー祭（ヒンドゥー教の新年）を祝うことができました。
生徒の子供たち(MOPA・KIDS)が集まり、まずオイルランプに綿の紐とオイルを入れ、

This year, I was in Bhubaneswar during Diwali, the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS!
In the evening, my students gathered and prepared oil lamps,
玄関から門にかけてオイルランプを並べていき、灯をともします。（写真がしょぼくて悔しい。本当はもっとずーっと素敵です。）
arranged them at the entrance of my house to welcome Lakshmi,
そして大量に買ってきた花火やクラッカー（爆竹！？）を真夜中まで楽しむんです。
burned hundreds of firecrackers whole night...
町は一晩中、騒音と煙に包まれ、どこかの家から時々打ち上がる、日本の花火大会並みの規模の大きな花火を楽しみながら、せっせと自分の花火を燃やし続けるのです。
heralding the defeat of the demon, enjoyed bigger fireworks on the sky, occasionally.

This year, I was in Bhubaneswar during Diwali, the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS!

玄関から門にかけてオイルランプを並べていき、灯をともします。（写真がしょぼくて悔しい。本当はもっとずーっと素敵です。）
arranged them at the entrance of my house to welcome Lakshmi,
そして大量に買ってきた花火やクラッカー（爆竹！？）を真夜中まで楽しむんです。
burned hundreds of firecrackers whole night...
町は一晩中、騒音と煙に包まれ、どこかの家から時々打ち上がる、日本の花火大会並みの規模の大きな花火を楽しみながら、せっせと自分の花火を燃やし続けるのです。

ここ10日間ほど、オリッサ州内を転々としてました。楽しかったー。でも乗り物に乗ってる時間が長くて、体はカチカチです。

For the last 10 days, I had been travelling inside Orissa!
生徒の子供たち（MOPA・KIDS）と一緒にする公演旅行は、ワイワイガヤガヤ声も枯れるけど、最高。
彼らは公演後も、ホテルの中で踊り続けてました。タフだわ。
Travelling with MOPA KIDS was fun, also they performed quite well.
They were still dancing away in the hotel room after the performance. They really love dancing!
その後、日本からの不思議な団体さんと一緒にオリッサの名所を回りました。

.オリッサについて、こんなに真剣に質問されたのは初めてのこと。ポワーンとしたこの不思議な団体さんの実態は、必殺仕事人なのでした。お疲れ様でした！
I was just impressed with the fact that they really work hard... They hardly slept, travelled around Orissa, took not less than 10,000 photographs, bought all kinds of Orissan sarees not to mention filigree silver, and learned Oriya cooking.
太陽寺院の前で、ココナッツ飲んでひと休み。
Now ask them anything about Orissa, they will tell you in detail!

彼らは公演後も、ホテルの中で踊り続けてました。タフだわ。
Travelling with MOPA KIDS was fun, also they performed quite well.

”野暮用月間”に出会ったもの。
バプジ・ナガルのアイスクリーム屋さん。スパイス効いたフレーバーもありますが、私はチャンキー・モンキーをお勧めしたいと思います。クッキー＆クリームのようなもんです。

Things which I met in my "minor business" period.
Ice cream shop in Bapuji Nagar. Quite a number of flavors, including some spice oriented ones. But I recommend you CHUNKY MONKEY, which is like "cookie & cream" to be on the safer side.
このトラック、というかオープンカー、高速道路で走ってました。風が当たって痛くないのかなあ。
An open car in the national highway... I hope he is doing fine with the wind...
ウダヤギリ、仏教遺跡は私のお気に入りスポットです。本当に静かでピースフルな所。7～8世紀に建てられたとされるストゥーパ（仏塔）の全貌とブルーのシャツは、案内してくださったガイドさん。
This is one of my favorite sites in Orissa, Udayagiri! So quiet and peaceful!
それにしても、こんな所に仏教の僧院があったなんて、以外です。発掘されたそうです。
It's very interesting to know that in Orissa, such Buddhist monastery existed...
８～１２世紀の間、仏教を学び瞑想する僧院だったようです。
It was a vibrant center of Buddhist learning and worship between 8th to 12th centuries AD.
コケの緑色がまぶしい美しさでした。
I was totally blown by the GREEN color of the moss!
瞑想室の入り口。中で仏教の勉強等していたのでしょう。私の舞踊学校の部屋は、もうちょっとだけ広かったな。

野暮用月間/minor business month

本日から9月末まで、”野暮用月間”となっている次第です。 溜まりに溜まった野暮用をクリアする作業はなかなか爽快で、意外といいもんです。ただ、9月末までに全て片付けばいいんですけどね。ちょっと心配な気もしますが、恐れてはいけない。その野暮用中に出会ったものたち。

Upto mid Sep, I am in a "minor business" period. Small little little things are piled up and I have decided to clear them up one by one.
Here are some pics of things which I met in the above process...
ラージ・マハルにある、”LORD”という男性用テーラーさん。日本製の私のパンツを見て、こんなに完璧でしゃれたパンツはまずうちでは無理だね。こういうのを作るには、何千万円もするミシンが必要なんだよ。
The tailor "LORD" at Raj Mahal, looking at my trouser from Japan, telling me that it's impossible to copy such a perfect and complicate design in BBSR, and it costs crores of rupees to get proper sawing machines for such stitching.
ブバ唯一のボーリングレーン。ホテル・メイフェアにあります。3回に一回は、スタッフが手動でボールを向こうから押してくれないと、ボール戻ってこないシステムです。
The only 1 bowling lane in BBSR @ MAYFAIR. The balls did not come back often unless a staff pushed them from that end...

新しいブリッジができてから初めて訪れたムンバイ。気のせいか、渋滞が緩くなったような、、、。

After the new bridge was built, Mumbai traffic jam seemed a bit less.....
前回コルカタで無理やり手伝っていただいたMさんにまたしても別件でご迷惑をかけつつ、なんとかNCPAにて公演遂行。
Somehow managed my performance at NCPA, thanks to DNA and Mr. M in Kolkata!!!
その後3日間のホリデイです。 まずはNYからのお友達、ショバがホテルに遊びに来てくれて、タイ・パヴィリオンにてホンッとにひっさし振りのタイ料理。ココナツミルクが濃すぎたけれど、粋な演出でカバー。
After the performance, I took 3 days off!
Shoba, a friend of mine visited me and we had a nice time at the THAI PAVILLION, impressed by the way napkins come out.
次にシルディというサイ・ババの地へ。マネージャーはじめ、友人・知人に信者が多いのです。道中ボルボバスに乗って爆睡中の明け方3時になんとエンジンの故障。やむなくヒッチハイクし、気のよさそうな運転手さんの相乗りタクシーの乗り込み、早朝に到着。
Then we headed to Shirdi, where the SAI BABA temple is located. Many of my friends are devotees of his. It takes 7 hours by VOLVO bus, but unfortunately our bus in the middle of the night stopped due to some engine problem, and so we hitch hiked a private taxi, squeezed in a car, no sleep till we had reached the temple after 9 hours...
3時間並んでやっとサイ・ババさんの像を拝むことができました。(写真は道中の風景。インドは今、雨季です。)
Then after 3 hours of being in a cue, we reached the Baba's statue, finally.(The pic is of the valley on the way to Shirdi)
尊敬するルイ・バンクスさんの家では夕飯をいただきました。
We had lovely dinner at my respected Louis Banks's house!
そして最後の日は、モディ・スタジオの増設スタジオ・オープニング・プージャに出席。
写真はマネージャーとたまたまオープニング・プージャに来ていたBLAAZE。何と彼がレコーディングした最新曲は ”マサコ”っていうんだよ、というのでちょっと聞かせてもらったら、うーん惜しいっ。”マセコ”だった。10月発売だそうです。
On the last day, we attended the new studio opening pooja of MODI STUDIO.
The pic is my manager with BLAAZE who was also attending the pooja of the studio. AND! He told me that his new song which will be released in October is called "MASAKO"!!! Wow, really??? But hmmmm, when I listened to the song, it was MASEKO, kind of same, kind of different...
最近は、スタジオで使ってる機器は、日本製じゃなくて、オーストラリアとかアメリカ製のものなんだよ。日本のテクノロジーはちょっと遅れ出したね、とはオーナーのアディティアさん。何をおっしゃるの、そんなはずはないわ、我が母国ジャパン、、、などと口論しながら、おいしいプラサッドを頂いて、帰路に着いた私たちでした。
The owner Aditiya tells me, "Nowadays the machines used in my studio are from Australia, and USA, not from Japan. Japanese technology is going behind." "No no no! It can't be true, how can my great country JAPAN be behind, we are the pioneer!" "Sorry but the time is changed. " "nonsense!" After some minutes of this hot debate, they gave us really nice prasaad, and we headed to the airport.
